Studying in South Tyrol

South Tyrol is the northernmost province of Italy and together with the Province of Trento it forms the Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige. Due to several historical events, German as well as Italian are the official languages in South Tyrol. Living in South Tyrol therefore means experiencing bilingualism in everyday's life. This is also put into practice at South Tyrol's educational institutions: At the Provincial College for Health Professions "Claudiana" teaching is done in German as well as in Italian, at the Free University of Bolzano learning is done trilingually, in German, Italian and English, and at the Philosophical-Theological Academy Bressanone German forms the main language of instruction.

The public transportation network in South Tyrol is constantly being expanded and improved, which is a great advantage for students, since they can almost completely avoid having their own car. The Province of Bolzano offers students up to the age of 27 an Annual Pass for all public transportation at a fixed tariff of 150 €, which is valid in the entire Province of Bolzano, including Trento.
